Living As Supernatural Agents In A Natural World

Living as Supernatural Agents in a Natural World

We live in a world that constantly tries to define us by what we own, who we're with, and what we've accomplished. It's easy to fall into the trap of measuring our worth by worldly standards—our possessions, relationships, or social status. But there's a deep truth that changes everything: if you're a believer in Christ, you're not meant to live by the world's rules. You're called to something far greater.

Children of Promise, Not Bondage

The story of Isaac and Ishmael in Scripture illustrates a powerful distinction. Isaac was the child of promise, born to the free woman, while Ishmael was born to the bondwoman. This isn't just ancient history—it's about our identity today. As spiritual descendants of Isaac's lineage, which leads all the way to Jesus, we are children of freedom, not slavery.

Yet how often do we live as though we're still in bondage? We remain shackled to addictions, toxic relationships, fear, and negative thought patterns. We act like beggars instead of heirs. The truth is, Christ has already purchased our freedom at an incredible price. We don't need to stay bound to anything that holds us captive.

The Power of Supernatural Living

What makes living as a Christian different from any other way of life? It's the supernatural element. We serve a supernatural God, and when His "super" combines with our "natural," we become supernatural people capable of doing supernatural things.

This isn't about mysticism or strange experiences. It's about accessing the power of the Holy Spirit that transcends—goes beyond and rises above—natural limitations. It's about recognizing that we have clear, full access to divine power as believers in Jesus.

Fear is one of the enemy's primary weapons against this supernatural life. Fear of being alone, fear of what others think, fear of financial insecurity—these fears keep us living small, natural lives instead of the supernatural life God intends. But Scripture tells us that perfect love casts out fear. When we bring our fears to God, His perfect love replaces them.

In the World, But Not of It

Jesus prayed something remarkable for His followers in John 17. He said, "I have given them your word and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world."

Notice what He didn't pray: He didn't ask God to remove believers from the world. Instead, He prayed, "I do not ask you to take them out of the world, but to keep them from the evil one."

This is crucial. God doesn't promise to pull us out of every difficulty, trial, or painful circumstance. What He promises is to be with us through it and to protect us from the evil one. Why? Because growth happens in the process. When God allows us to walk through challenges and difficulties with Him, we experience lasting transformation rather than temporary fixes.

The Word of God is our weapon and our guide through this journey. It determines who we are and should determine the outcome of our situations. We cannot let circumstances define us; instead, we let God's Word define the outcome of our circumstances.

Ambassadors on a Mission

2 Corinthians 5:20 declares: "Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us."

An ambassador represents a sovereign power in a foreign land. When a United States ambassador serves in another country, they act as though the President himself were present. Similarly, as ambassadors for Christ, we're called to represent Jesus in this world—to act as He would act in every situation we encounter.

This means we're all on a mission. Your workplace is your mission field. Your family is your mission field. Wherever you interact with people, that's where God haspositioned and stationed you as His representative.

Not everyone is called to preach from a pulpit, but everyone is called to bring people back to God. This is what it means to have a "ministry of reconciliation"—helping others reconcile with God, bringing them back into right relationship with Him.

Grace Provides, Faith Takes

Here's a life changing truth: grace has already provided everything you will ever need. Every spiritual blessing has been given to us in Christ Jesus. The question isn't whether God will provide, He already has provide all we will ever need. The question is whether we'll have the faith to receive what's been provided.

Grace provides it; faith takes it.

Your healing wasn't provided when you got sick—it was provided on the cross. Your deliverance wasn't given when you needed it—it was given at Calvary. Your prosperity, your peace, your purpose—all of it was finished on the cross.

Unbelief short-circuits our faith. It's like a faulty electrical connection that makes a light flicker on and off. To operate as effective agents for God, we must believe completely that God is who He says He is and that His Word is absolutely true.

Seated in Heavenly Places

Ephesians 2:6 tells us something astounding: God "raised us up and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus."

Even while we live in this natural world, we are spiritually seated with Christ in heaven. This means we have heavenly authority running through our veins. We're not just earthly beings trying to be spiritual—we're spiritual beings with earthly assignments.

This authority isn't for controlling other people or manipulating situations to our advantage. It's for building the body of Christ and advancing the kingdom of God. It's for standing against the enemy's attacks and living victoriously despite circumstances.

Answer the Call

You weren't saved by accident. God has a specific mission and purpose for your life. It might be sharing faith through creative means, showing Christ's love in a difficult workplace, or simply being a light in your family. Whatever it is, you're called to it.

Don't let your past disqualify you. Under the blood of Jesus, your past is washed away—white as snow, thrown behind God's back, never to be remembered against you again. Don't let feelings of inadequacy stop you. Don't let fear hold you back.

You are a supernatural person living in a natural world. You are an agent on a mission for the kingdom of God. The question isn't whether you're qualified, Christ has already qualified you. The question is: will you answer the call?

Rise up. Walk in the authority you've been given. Believe the Word over your circumstances. Live as the ambassador you were created to be. The world around you is waiting for someone to show them there's something more—something supernatural breaking into the natural. That someone is you.
