Day 5: Turning Up God's Voice
Reading: Romans 8:1-14; John 10:1-5, 27
Devotional: Snacking on sin is like turning down the volume of God's voice while turning up the volume of your flesh. Over time, compromise makes your conscience less sensitive and the Holy Spirit's conviction easier to ignore. The enemy's accusations become louder and more convincing. But here's the good news: there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. When you confess and turn from sin, you're not just receiving forgiveness—you're recalibrating your spiritual hearing. When you bring sin into the light, you're turning God's voice back up in your life. Jesus said His sheep hear His voice. Jesus also declared, "I am the light of the world," and then told His followers, "You are the light of the world." Your light isn't meant to be hidden or dimmed by compromise. When you bring sin into the light, you're not doing it to be shamed—you're doing it to be freed. The world is watching for authenticity, not perfection. They can spot the contradiction when we talk about holiness but keep snacking on sin. The more you walk in obedience, the clearer His voice becomes. The more you expose hidden sins to His light, the quieter the accuser's voice grows. Today, practice listening. When temptation whispers, turn up the Spirit's volume. When temptation calls you back to that cupboard, that habit, that compromise, listen for His voice. When old habits call, tune into the Father's frequency. It will be clearer now. Louder. More insistent. You're being trained for freedom one choice at a time. Freedom comes one choice at a time, one elephant bite at a time. Keep turning up His voice. Keep walking toward the light. Each act of obedience sharpens your hearing. Walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
Today is your opportunity to let God turn up the volume of His voice in your life. As you resist that familiar temptation, listen for His Spirit guiding you. Freedom is a process, taken one step at a time, one choice at a time. Walk fully in the light, and let your life shine with the genuine transformation only Christ can bring.
Reflection Question: What practical step can I take today to walk more fully in the light and let my witness shine authentically?
Closing Prayer: Father, thank You for calling me out of darkness into Your marvelous light. Help me to walk worthy of this calling, bringing every hidden thing into Your presence. Give me courage to confess, strength to resist, and grace to walk as a true child of light. Turn up the volume of Your Spirit in my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
