Day 4: Training, Not Just Trying
Reading: Titus 2:11-14
Devotional: Many believers have a gym membership to the Body of Christ but never show up for training. Salvation is free, but transformation requires cooperation with grace. Grace teaches us, schools us, and trains us to live soberly, righteously, and godly. Grace isn't just a "get out of consequences" card or an excuse to keep sinning. Grace is a trainer. The same grace that saved you is now schooling you. Teaching you to say no to ungodliness and worldly lusts, and yes to living soberly, righteously, and godly. Grace doesn't just forgive your past; it purifies your present and prepares you for good works. You have a membership to the body of Christ that Jesus paid for. But if you never let the trainer (the Holy Spirit) push you, you'll remain out of shape while wearing the gym shirt. This isn't about trying harder, it's about yielding to the Holy Spirit's training program. New desires emerge; sin doesn't satisfy like it used to. New disciplines form through prayer, worship, and obedience. New direction appears as you look forward with eternal perspective. Don't just wear the Christian t-shirt; let the Trainer push you toward transformation. Freedom is progressive: one yes at a time, one no at a time, one bite of the elephant at a time. Let grace train you today.
Reflection Questions:
How have I been treating grace as an excuse rather than a trainer in my life?
Am I cooperating with God’s grace & The Holy Spirit’s training, or am I just trying harder in my own strength?
