Separated For A Purpose-Day #1-Soaked & Smoking

Day 1: Separated for a Purpose

Reading: Acts 1:4-8

Devotional: Before Pentecost, Jesus commanded His disciples to wait. Before power comes preparation. Before impact comes separation. Jesus commanded His disciples to wait—not because they weren't ready to serve, but because they weren't yet equipped with power.  They needed to be clothed with power from on high. Separation isn't just about what you leave behind; it's about what you're being prepared to receive. God doesn't want you running on natural strength, doing spiritual work with human effort. God is calling you to pause in His presence, to stop striving in your own strength, and to wait for His promise. This waiting isn't passive; it's active surrender. When you separate yourself from the noise, busyness, and distractions, you create space for God to fill you completely. God doesn't call us away from the world's distractions just to make us "good Christians." He separates us to saturate us with His power and presence. Like those disciples in the upper room, your season of waiting isn't wasted time, it's sacred preparation. You're not being sidelined; you're being filled. Don't rush ahead in your own strength. Wait for the Promise. God is preparing you to be a carrier of His presence, not just a participant in religious activity. What areas of your life need to shift from activity to availability? Ask yourself: Am I rushing ahead in my own strength, or am I willing to wait for God's power? True ministry flows from saturation, not striving. Surrender your agenda, quiet the noise, and position yourself to receive what only He can give. Separation creates space for saturation. Today, choose to wait on the Lord, trusting that He wants to saturate you with His Spirit more than you want to receive.

Reflection: What areas of busyness or self-effort do I need to surrender while I wait for God's power?
