Day 2: The Promise Is for You
Reading: Luke 11:9-13; Acts 2:38-39 ; Matthew 3:11-17; Luke 3:16
Devotional:
Your Heavenly Father delights in giving the Holy Spirit to those who ask. This isn't a reward for perfect behavior or spiritual maturity, it's a gift for hungry hearts. Peter declared that the promise of the Spirit is "for you and your children, and for all who are afar off." That includes you, right now, right where you are. God isn't withholding His Spirit, waiting for you to become worthy. He's waiting for you to ask with childlike faith and open hands. The baptism in the Holy Spirit isn't reserved for spiritual giants; it's available to every believer who surrenders fully. John the Baptist declared a revolutionary truth: Jesus doesn't just forgive; He baptizes with the Holy Spirit and fire. This isn't a gentle sprinkle; it's complete immersion. Fire purifies, burning away the dross and impurities that hinder our walk. God's fire burns away those hidden compromises and secret sins that compete for His place. Fire ignites, creating passion and boldness where fear once lived. Fire spreads, making your life contagious with God's presence. God isn't looking for polite, tame Christians who merely avoid sin. He's seeking burning ones, believers so saturated with His Spirit that they set hearts ablaze wherever they go. The same Jesus who forgave your sins wants to set you on fire for His purposes. This isn't about becoming a loud, emotional spectacle; it's about becoming genuinely alive in God's presence. The world doesn't need more lukewarm believers, it needs Christians who are soaked in the Spirit and smoking with holy fire, carriers of a presence that transforms every room they enter. Are you content with forgiveness alone, or are you hungry for the fullness of what Christ offers? Ask Him today to baptize you afresh in Holy Ghost fire. Today, ask your Father to baptize you afresh in the Holy Ghost and fire. Expect Him to answer, because He's a good Father who gives good gifts.
Reflection: Am I content with forgiveness alone, or am I hungry for the fire that transforms me into a bold witness?
