Day 3: Daily Fuel For Lasting Fire - The Power of the Secret Place
Reading: Matthew 6:6; Psalm 91:1; Jeremiah 23:29; Romans 12:1; Jude 20-21
Devotional:
A campfire doesn't need to be kicked over to die—it simply needs to be ignored. Similarly, your spiritual fire doesn't require dramatic rebellion to fade; simple neglect will do. The secret place, your daily meeting with God is where the fire is fed. It's not a religious obligation but is relationship building. God's Word is like fire, igniting passion and breaking through hardness. Worship turns your affection toward Him. Waiting in His presence allows Him to speak, fill, and transform you. The enemy of your fire isn't always obvious sin; often it's constant distraction and busyness. You can be busy for God yet no longer burning with God. Protect your secret place fiercely. The secret place is where you meet with the One you're hosting. It's more than a box to check, but a relationship to cultivate. In this hidden place, God's Word cuts through deception, cleanses your heart, and ignites fresh passion. Worship stokes the flames of love. God's love for you and your love for Him. Here's a practical challenge: Pick a specific time and place for your daily meeting with God. Make it non-negotiable. Even twenty minutes of intentional time of reading Scripture, worshiping, listening for His voice will keep your fire blazing when public pressures try to extinguish it. Read His Word, worship Him, and then wait. Give Him space to speak, nudge, and fill you. Let God's Word, which is "like fire," ignite fresh passion. Worship turns your affection towards Him. Praying in tongues builds you up and fans coals and embers into flame. These aren't religious obligations but relational investments. If you protect your secret place, God will protect your public fire. Your private devotion fuels your public boldness. Each morning, present yourself as a living sacrifice. Surrender your plans, desires, relationships and lay them on the altar.
Reflection:
Where is your secret place, and when will you meet Him there today?
What does your daily "fuel routine" look like?
How can you protect your secret place this week?
