Day 6: A Lifestyle of Fire – Walking In The Spirit
Reading: Galatians 5:16, 22-25; Romans 8:14 Acts 4:31
Devotional:
Walking in the Spirit isn't about trying harder to avoid sin; it's about feeding the Spirit so consistently that fleshly appetites lose their grip. When your fire burns hot, old addictions taste different. The fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience—becomes visible not just in Sunday worship but in Monday traffic, in how you treat difficult people, in private moments when nobody's watching. A Spirit-led life means living with holy sensitivity: "Holy Spirit, what are You saying right now?" Quick obedience to His promptings—texting that encouragement, extending forgiveness, sharing Jesus boldly—adds fuel to your fire. Real fire makes you Christlike in life, not just loud in church. Walking in the Spirit isn't about a single mountain-top experience—it's about daily, moment-by-moment responsiveness to God's leading. When you walk in the Spirit, you don't fulfill the desires of the flesh, This is not through white-knuckled willpower, but through feeding what's alive in you. The evidence of a "still smoking" life isn't just loud worship on Sunday; it's Christlike character on Monday, It’s love, patience, kindness, and self-control displayed in traffic, at home, and when no one's watching. It's boldness to share Jesus without shame. It's sensitivity to the Holy Spirit's promptings throughout your day. The early church didn't experience one filling and coast forever, they were filled again and again, and each filling produced boldness and fruit. You're not called to be a once-a-year bonfire but a lifelong flame, consistently burning for Jesus and setting others ablaze with His love. God didn't baptize you with fire for a moment—He baptized you for a lifestyle. Keep adding fuel. Remove the extinguishers. Tend your altar daily. And stay smoking for His glory.
Closing Prayer:
Holy Spirit, thank You for the fire You've ignited in my heart. I commit to tending this flame daily through Your Word, worship, prayer, obedience, and surrender. Keep me still smoking—burning passionately for Jesus all the days of my life. Make me a carrier of Your presence to everyone I encounter. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Reflection:
Where is the Holy Spirit prompting you to obey today?
What fruit needs to grow in your life?
In what specific area of your daily life do you need to respond more quickly to the Holy Spirit's leading?
