Day 1: God Starts the Fire, You Tend It
Reading: Leviticus 6:12-13: Romans 12:1
Devotional: God ignited the fire on the altar in Leviticus, but the priests had to keep it burning. The priests had a daily job description: add wood, remove ashes, keep the fire burning. Your spiritual life requires the same attention. God ignited the fire in your heart the moment you surrendered to Him, but keeping that flame burning is your responsibility. You didn't save yourself. God initiated your salvation. You didn't light that flame, but whether your fire blazes or barely flickers depends on how you steward what God started. The fire in your heart requires daily attention: time in His presence, immersion in His Word, and moments of genuine worship. When your spiritual life feels dry, it's rarely because God withdrew; it's often because we've stopped bringing fuel. Are you bringing fuel to the altar of your heart daily? God won't withdraw His fire, but we often stop bringing Him fuel. Today, acknowledge that your heart is the altar and commit to being a faithful steward of the flame God placed within you. The secret place is where you add wood to keep your fire burning bright. Ask yourself: Am I adding wood to this fire daily, or am I letting yesterday's ashes pile up? God's fire is available, but your response determines whether it blazes or barely flickers.
Challenge: Set a daily 15-minute secret place appointment this week. Five minutes worship, five minutes in the Word, five minutes prayer and listening. Show up consistently. Write down what God shows you. What you write, you remember. What you remember, you can walk out. Remember: you can't live today on yesterday's fire. Return to the secret place daily for fresh fuel for your flame.
