Day 4: Meditating on the Word - Truth That Keeps the Flame Pure
Reading: Jeremiah 23:29; Joshua 1:8; Psalm 119:105
Devotional
God's Word is like fire. It burns up lies, smashes strongholds like a hammer breaking rocks, and illuminates your path. Skimming a verse on your way out the door won't fuel your flame you must meditate on it. Meditation means chewing on Scripture, letting it saturate your thoughts and applying it to your life. Take one verse, read it, pray over it, personalize it and let it shape your day. Let it shape your perspective before you even face your day. The Word is fuel that keeps your flame from becoming "strange fire", passion mixed with worldly ways instead of God's truth. Passion without Scripture becomes error. Scripture without passion becomes dry. You need both Word and fire. Don't just know the Bible, let it know you, transform you, guide you. Today, choose one verse and return to it throughout the day. Let it marinate in your spirit all day long. Let it become the lens through which you see every situation you encounter. Let God's Word fuel your flame.
Challenge:
Set a daily 15-minute secret place appointment this week. Five minutes worship, five minutes in the Word, five minutes prayer and listening. Show up consistently. Write down what God shows you. What you write, you remember. What you remember, you can walk out. Remember: you can't live today on yesterday's fire. Return to the secret place daily for fresh fuel for your flame.
