Led By The Spirit-Not Dragged By The Flesh

Day 3: Led by the Spirit, Not Dragged by the Flesh
Reading: John 8:31-36
Devotional:

Real freedom isn't doing whatever you want. that's just upgraded slavery to your impulses. Kingdom freedom means you're no longer controlled by what once owned you. Kingdom freedom means the Holy Spirit leads you instead of your impulses dragging you. The world confuses liberty with license, but Jesus offers something far better: freedom from the control of the flesh. Walking in the Spirit means you're no longer yanked around by anger, lust, fear, or bitterness. You're led, not dragged. This requires daily, moment-by-moment choices: pausing instead of exploding, closing the screen instead of clicking, speaking truth instead of rehearsing worst-case scenarios. When anger rises, you can pause and respond with gentleness. When temptation knocks, you can close the door and cry out for help. When fear whispers worst-case scenarios, you can speak God's Word and take the step anyway. This is what it means to walk in the Spirit. You are no longer yanked around like a dog on a leash by your flesh. You are a son or daughter, led by the Spirit of God. Every moment you choose Spirit over flesh,  you're enforcing the freedom Jesus won for you. Every time you obey the Spirit's conviction, that gentle alarm warning you away from bondage, you step deeper into freedom. Every time you ignore it, you step back toward slavery. Today, identify one area where your flesh tries to drag you. Then practice this: "I'm no longer a slave to this. I am led by the Spirit of God." Walk accordingly. Jesus declared that knowing the truth sets us free, but this knowledge comes from abiding in His Word. Your secret place, that appointed time alone with God is where inner victory is won. This isn't where you tell God what you want; it's where you surrender to what He wants. The cross purchased your freedom completely, but your daily walk enforces that freedom. Today, establish or strengthen your secret place. Let God put His finger on areas that need attention, not to shame you, but to free you. Victory in public is always born from agreement with God in private.
Reflection :
What "ashes" might God want to remove from your altar today?
In what specific situation this week can you choose to walk in the Spirit instead of reacting in the flesh?
