Day 3: Fixing Your Eyes on Jesus
Reading: Hebrews 12:1-3; 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
Devotional:
The writer of Hebrews paints a powerful picture: a great cloud of witnesses cheering you on as you run your race, but the key is keeping your eyes locked on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith. You weren't saved just to shout about freedom at an altar for five minutes. You were saved to walk it out daily. This requires intentional focus. When distractions come, and they will, you must make the choice to redirect your gaze back to Calvary. Jesus endured the cross with you in mind. You were the joy set before Him. That same Jesus is worthy of your undivided attention today. Don't let busyness, entertainment, or drama steal your focus. In your secret place, ask God to reset your spiritual vision and lock you in on Him alone. Freedom isn't a one-time lap around the altar—it's a race requiring endurance. The key to endurance isn't willpower; it's focus. "Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith." Your secret place is your daily refocusing station, where you reset your gaze on Christ rather than your circumstances, failures, or temptations. Here, you realign your vision, expose deceptions, and receive fresh determination. Jesus endured the cross "for the joy set before Him.” He stayed focused on the finish line. Your freedom walk requires the same endurance, and endurance is fueled by what you see. In your secret place, pray specifically: "Jesus, refocus my eyes on You. Holy Spirit, expose any lie I'm believing. Strengthen my will to obey." Then listen. God will speak. He'll show you the next step. Maybe a boundary to set, a habit to break, an app to delete. Freedom grows through focused, obedient choices, one step at a time. What you focus on shapes what you follow. If you constantly focus on the problem, you will follow the problem. If you fix your eyes on Jesus, you'll walk in what He won. Today, practice the "Spot it, Stop it, Swap it" method: identify lies, reject them in Jesus' name, and replace them with Scripture. Your mind is holy ground! Guard it carefully! Don't just talk about freedom; walk in it daily, locked in on Jesus, focused, fearless, and free.
Reflection Question:
What one focused, obedient decision will you make in the next 24 hours to maintain your freedom in Christ?
What truth from God's Word will you use to replace the lies you've been entertaining?
