Holy Stubborness-Day #2-Still Standing

Day 2: Holy Stubbornness
Reading: Galatians 6:9; Hebrews 12:1-3
Devotional: Persistence in the Christian life isn't about perfection, it's about refusal to quit. God isn't asking you to never feel tired, discouraged, or worn down. He's asking you not to grow weary while doing good. There's a profound difference between feeling exhausted and abandoning the race. Feeling tired doesn't mean you're failing God. Paul's encouragement to "not grow weary while doing good" acknowledges that weariness will come—but it doesn't have to win. Think of persistence as holy stubbornness, a sanctified determination that says, "I will not quit on God, even when everything in me wants to sit down." When you stumble, you don't return to the starting line. You get up right where you fell, receive grace, and keep moving forward. A runner who trips at mile three doesn't return to mile zero; he gets up and continues. Your past mistakes don't erase your future promise. God wants to take your natural stubbornness and redirect it toward His purposes. Keep showing up in the secret place even when you don't feel goosebumps. Keep obeying even when you don't see quick results. This is the heart of biblical endurance: not sinless perfection, but relentless pursuit of Jesus despite imperfection. The writer of Hebrews reminds us to fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. He endured the cross for the joy set before Him. Your persistence honors His sacrifice.
Reflection Questions:
Where have you been tempted to quit?
What would holy stubbornness look like in that area today?
What is one area where you need to exchange worldly stubbornness for holy persistence?
Prayer:
Father, baptize my stubbornness and turn it into holy persistence. Help me get up where I fell and keep walking toward You.
