Flesh You're Fired-Week #4-Devotion #5

The flesh is without a doubt the most difficult area to consecrate before God. This is what God’s Word is about: the spirit overcoming the flesh, and not the flesh overcoming the spirit.
Jesus said, “The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.” The flesh involves that part of our will, emotions, mind or body that wants to act contrary to the will of God. We must consecrate the flesh in order to be free. You have a choice. You’ll either bring the flesh under, or the flesh will bring you under.

-Pastor Mirek Hufton-Forever Free-Pg. 59-59
Our flesh tries to dominate us. It tries to control us in all our thoughts, actions, emotions and daily activities. Our flesh wants to be the boss of us. Our flesh want us to be in submission to it and fulfilling its every desire. Like the unruly, unproductive, unreliable, whining and complaining employee, we must tell our flesh, "Flesh You Are Fired!" We must remove all control and access from our flesh. We must yield to our spirit! Like trained athletes or any professional who has been successful it takes discipline and training!
1Co 9:24  Do you not know that in a race all the runners run [their very best to win], but only one receives the prize? Run [your race] in such a way that you may seize the prize and make it yours!
1Co 9:25  Now every athlete who [goes into training and] competes in the games is disciplined and exercises self-control in all things. They do it to win a crown that withers, but we [do it to receive] an imperishable [crown that cannot wither].
1Co 9:26  Therefore I do not run without a definite goal; I do not flail around like one beating the air [just shadow boxing].
1Co 9:27  But [like a boxer] I strictly discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached [the gospel] to others, I myself will not somehow be disqualified [as unfit for service].
- Corinthians 9:24-27-AMP
1Co 9:24  Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win.
1Co 9:25  Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable.
1Co 9:26  Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air;
1Co 9:27  but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.
-I Corinthians 9:24-27-NASB
1Co 9:24  Do you not know that those running in a race all run, but one receives the prize? So run, that you may obtain.
1Co 9:25  And everyone who strives for the mastery is temperate in all things. Then those truly that they may receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible.
1Co 9:26  So then I run, not as if I were uncertain. And so I fight, not as one who beats the air.
1Co 9:27  But I buffet my body, and lead it captive, lest proclaiming to others I myself might be rejected.
-I Corinthians 9:24-27-MKJV
1Co 9:24  Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
1Co 9:25  And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
1Co 9:26  I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
1Co 9:27  But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
-I Corinthians 9:24-27-KJV
The flesh is always demanding and has a strong voice. It always cries out, “Give me this” or “Give me that.” And it also says, “Give it to me now.” The flesh is a liar. Self-worth and life’s fulfillment are never found through fulfilling the desires and needs of the flesh.

Gal 5:17  For the sinful nature has its desire which is opposed to the Spirit, and the [desire of the] Spirit opposes the sinful nature; for these [two, the sinful nature and the Spirit] are in direct opposition to each other [continually in conflict], so that you [as believers] do not [always] do whatever [good things] you want to do.
-Galatians 5:17-AMP
Gal 5:17  For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.
-Galatians 5:17-NASB
Gal 5:17  For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
   -Galatians 5:17-KJV
There is a daily struggle between our flesh and our spirit. there is no one time battle and victory. That is why Paul said " I crucify my flesh daily" Take control today. From the moment we wake upo our flesh will want its way. Make up your mind. Put your foot down. Tell your flesh not today. We must do this every day. We can't do this once or twice a week, it must be every day. The more you put your flesh down the weaker it will get, but it will never die. As long as there is breath in our lungs our flesh is alive. We can however bring it under control and live a life led by the spirit. Fire your Flesh today and let your spirit be your boss and be led by His Spirit!
Prayer:
Spirt of God I surrender to you! Flesh I am done listening to you and allowing you to control me. Spirit of God help me keep my flesh under control today and lead me by your Spirit this entire day!  In Jesus Name I Pray!
